Guitar Academy Mauritius takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect through guitaracademy.mu, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it, in line with Mauritius's Data Protection Act 2017.
What Information We Collect, and Why
We collect different information depending on which form you use. In every case, we only collect what we need to provide the service you're asking for.Beginner Registration
When you register for beginner classes, we collect: student name, date of birth, parent/guardian name (if the student is under 18), contact number, email address, your chosen class, payment plan, and your proof of payment. We use this to enrol you in a class, verify your payment, and send you registration and confirmation emails.Intermediate Evaluation
When you request an intermediate evaluation, we collect: student name, date of birth, parent/guardian name (if under 18), contact number, email address, and your preferred location. We use this to arrange and contact you about your evaluation session — no payment is collected at this stage.Registration Waitlist
When you join the waitlist for a closed class, we collect: your name, contact number, your preferred location, and email address (optional). We use this solely to contact you when a matching spot becomes available.Class Option Request
When you request a different class option than what's currently available, we collect: your name, contact number, email address (optional), and any note you provide. We use this to contact you when a suitable option opens up.Festival Ticket Purchase
When you purchase a festival ticket, we collect: your full name, contact details, ticket quantity, payment method, and your proof of payment. We use this to process your order, generate your e-ticket and QR code, verify your payment, and admit you at the event. Each ticket is assigned a unique, randomly generated code with no connection to your name or other details — this is what's encoded in your QR ticket and scanned at the door by staff via a password-protected page. Scanning only records whether that ticket has been used and when; it doesn't collect any further personal information.How We Use Your Information
Across all forms, we use your information to:- Process your registration, evaluation request, waitlist entry, or ticket order
- Verify payment where applicable
- Communicate with you about your registration, class, evaluation, or event
- Keep records for administrative and academy operations purposes
Third Parties
We share your information only where necessary to provide the service you've requested:- Payment verification is handled directly by Guitar Academy staff — we do not use an online payment gateway, so we never see or store your banking passwords, card numbers, or login credentials. You pay via Juice or bank transfer using details we provide, and upload your own proof of payment.
- QR code generation for festival tickets uses a third-party service (api.qrserver.com). Only a check-in link containing your ticket's random code is sent to this service — never your name, email, or payment details.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service you registered for, maintain administrative and financial records, and resolve any questions or disputes about your registration or order. We securely delete information we no longer need for these purposes.Your Rights
